Dow COP Class of 1998 |

Words
may not accurately express what the Dow College Opportunity Program has
done for me for I have gained so much from my involvement in the
program. I have been inspired, encouraged, and supported in so
many ways. I have met a variety of people through Dow COP -many of
which have touched my life in some way. Some of my fondest memories have
been created from Dow COP experiences and travels. The work camp
trip and backpacking hikes, as well as my senior trip of white water
rafting were all emotionally rewarding for a variety of reasons.
After four years of new adventures, an unspoken bond had formed not only
with other students, but the program director as well; we all learned a
lot from one another. The program director played an important
role in my life and COP experience because of her optimistic and caring
nature. I can say with complete confidence that the program will
continue to prosper with a new director who will be equally influential
to those students just beginning their Dow COP experience. I
believe the success of this program stems from the opportunities
provided. I have been given the opportunity to experience life in ways
that I honestly feel could not have been done anywhere else. Dow
COP expanded my horizons and encouraged me to spread my wings. The
opportunity to form lasting friendships is in itself a gift of the
program; however, the opportunity of experience has been the real
treasure. I've experienced friendship, challenge, and reward all while
developing and discovering myself through Dow COP. The various
activities involved in the program did more than just prepare me for
college - the COP experiences have helped prepare me for life. The
value of Dow College Opportunity Program has certainly proven itself to
me for I have come to realize that the key to discovering one's self is
through others. Dow COP provided the positive environment that
allowed me to become the person I am today. I often feel there is
nothing I can't do because I have a network of friends – including a
program director and multiple board members who all believe in me.
